Tyttö ja tanssiva karhu (Girl and the dancing bear), which premiered in March 2019,
was theatre artist Katimari Niskala’s final project for the Turku Arts Academy. The
performance is built using devising technology and is based on a song composed
by Kaj Chydenius. I played the leading role in the performance. The show’s genre is
modern drama, it relies on audiovisuals, physical theatre and research on the
heritage of Commedia dell’arte. The show takes advantage of the unpredictability,
shamelessness and ridiculousness of this powerful theatrical tradition.
